The promise of WARMTH draws you in. Enter barefoot. Leave ‘usual’ at the door. Throw a log on the fire. Listen to the crackling and low conversation. A glowing space.
Woodsmoke; timber; benches; the contrast of the traffic outside with the crackling of the fire inside; a hearth to gather round, extending each day quietly into the evening; WARMTH.
Winter or summer, rain or shine, there's pretty much no situation that wouldn't be improved by a good wood-burning sauna…
After a day in the office, a big night out, in the middle of a mad week running around with the kids, after a big deadline, between coats of paint in the kitchen, after a muddy bike ride, after a long walk, after a wild swim, after too much screen-time or after a good workout in the gym.
We could all have more WARMTH in our lives.
THE ETHOS OF WARMTH
WARMTH is an invitation to hang up your coat, leave your phones behind and just experience. Our aim is to create a welcoming space, where all bodies are respected; all genders, sizes, shapes + ages; enter, leave, enjoy the WARMTH, sit for a while, take a shower; find your own pace.
A sauna manifesto:
WARMTH is yours
you are welcome
WARMTH is a culture
take your pleasures seriously
WARMTH is outside your normal life
leave 'usual' at the door
By keeping our overheads low, we want to keep the sauna sessions simple + affordable. WARMTH is a welcoming + community-focussed space. We can't wait to share it with you.
Swimwear Policy
Our current policy is swimwear for all genders. A key part of the Finnish sauna culture is textile/swimwear free saunas, so we aim to introduce these sessions once we have more privacy infrastructure in the yard.
We ask everyone to sit on a towel at all times. We clean the sauna benches each day + the high temperatures ensure that the sauna remains hygienic.
WARMTH regular sauna sessions are for over 18s only. We may introduce family sessions at a later date.
Single-gender sessions
Our regular sessions are for all genders but we will be adding more specific sessions as we expand. Trans, non binary and gender-diverse sauna-bathers are welcome at WARMTH. Please wear whatever you feel most comfortable in.
SAUNA YARD GUIDELINES
We have as few rules as possible; just enough so that everyone stays safe and has the best sauna experience. The whole ethos of WARMTH Community Sauna is to create a non-judgemental, open + generous atmosphere, where all people are respected. The sauna is purposefully low-lit, to draw focus away from the visual, and focus on the sensory. It is a time for relaxation and community. Simply stay in the sauna until you are too hot, then step outside until you can’t wait to get back in.
It is not a competition; we encourage you to listen to your own body + simply stay in the sauna until you are too hot, then step outside until you can’t wait to get back in! We always have cold water available between sauna sessions.
The sauna yard is a sober space
No glass or candles in the sauna
Drink plenty of water during and after your sauna
Don’t place anything on or near the stove
Bring a towel to sit on whilst on the benches
Return crocs + mugs to the changing area
We have lockers available to keep valuables in whilst using the sauna, but you remain responsible for your property whilst on-site.
We have the right to refuse admission to people who are under the influence of alcohol or behave in a disrespectful way towards staff or guests.
Please note: the sauna is dark inside, lit only by two small windows and the wood-burning stove. Glasses will steam up instantly! We recommend leaving them outside / in the changing room.
Guest Behaviour
We do not tolerate any disrespectful behaviour, or discrimination based on race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, cultural background, age, or physical or mental disability. Please let us know if you experience anything that makes you feel uncomfortable or unsafe whilst at WARMTH + we will do our best to put it right.

Comments from our Visitors' Book:
So great, transcendent. Don’t think I’ll experience anything like this again.
Isobel, sauna visitor at Compass Festival, Leeds
a perfect + empowering afternoon
Caroline
One of very few things that can *actually* chill me out. A safe space to sit in alone and be with your thoughts. And full of chatter and joyous naked laughter when it’s full. What a treat, and a bold act to take time out to relax.
Christie
Warms you though to the bones
Anthony
Not only cleansing for the body and spirit- such a wonderful vehicle for community and social cohesion. How can you not strike up conversation when 5 people are sat in swimwear in a horsebox! Blissful!!
Leann
Surreal moment on a rainy November evening.
Lucy
An important pitstop in the centre of a city - important to connect and especially in this way given so much unrest, disconnection and fractions. Moments + events such as this remind us of the significance of interventions which invite us to connect with strangers, those who are unfamiliar and to realise what we have in common.
Rommi
To take a break away from the everyday and sit in a sauna in the city you might think you will not hear anything but the city remains, the trains go by, the traffic behind and the cold, damp rain outside, but it’s a secret place of your own where you feel free of the world and anything is possible.
Terri
Gorgeous experience, blood pumping, thoughts flowing, eucalyptus steaming. Feels beautiful. Thank you!
Katherine
Made me feel real good about my body.
